Is online tutoring safe for my child?
All sessions take place on secure Zoom. Both tutors are PVG Scheme members; Mrs Insiya is also GTCS-registered. Our webcam policy requires both tutor and student to be visible at all times. Session recording only with explicit written parental consent, stored securely and deleted after 12 months.
What is the PVG Scheme and why does it matter?
The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is Scotland's enhanced vetting system, regulated by Disclosure Scotland under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 — the Scottish equivalent of an Enhanced DBS check in England. Both Skillarz tutors are PVG members, and disclosure numbers are available to parents on request.
What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions cancelled with 48+ hours notice receive a full credit or refund. Less than 48 hours notice may be charged in full. Packages purchased online include a 14-day cooling-off period per Consumer Rights Act 2015 (distance contract rules). After cooling-off, unused sessions are refunded pro-rata.
How is my child's personal data protected?
We process data under UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. Lawful basis: consent and contract performance. Enquiry data retained for 1 year; lesson recordings deleted after 12 months. You can access, correct, erase, or port your data at any time — contact skillarzlearninghub@gmail.com. Complaints to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
Can sessions be recorded?
Session recording requires explicit written consent from a parent or guardian before the first session. Recordings are stored on encrypted, password-protected storage and accessible only to the student and their parent. All recordings are automatically deleted after 12 months. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and recordings deleted within 7 days.
Do you set homework between sessions?
Yes — tailored homework is set via Google Classroom after each session, aligned to the student's CfE level or N5/Higher targets. Homework is designed to consolidate learning and is never excessive. We always discuss homework expectations with parents and students upfront.
Are you aligned to the Scottish curriculum?
Absolutely. All lessons are fully aligned to Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) Experiences & Outcomes, SQA National 5 and Higher specifications, and Education Scotland benchmarks. Mrs Insiya holds an MEd from the University of Dundee and is GTCS-registered, ensuring full familiarity with Scottish education standards.
What technology does my child need?
A laptop or tablet with a webcam and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a Zoom account (free). We also use Google Classroom for resources (free Google account). Pen, paper, and a scientific calculator are recommended. Full technical onboarding is provided before the first session.

Skillarz Learning Hub is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in line with the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 and GIRFEC principles. Any concern about a child's welfare will be taken seriously and acted upon promptly.
Concerns are reported to the relevant Local Authority Children's Services Duty Social Work team or Police Scotland (101 / 999) as appropriate. Both tutors hold current Child Protection training in line with Education Scotland guidance.
